Yes on Prop 8 Spokesman Compares Gays to Hitler

I am insulted that he compared us to Hiter...but what I'm also appalled at is his use of Rev. Neimoller's good name. He was the man who stood up to Hilter and was persecuted...Hilter who was denying people their civil rights based on who they were, based on things they could not change, Hitler was the one taking away rights, JUST like Prop. 8.

This is sad, and just another way that the Religious right is trying to manipulate history and facts. If Rev. Neimoller was alive today, he'd be standing up AGAINST Prop 8 because it denies people their civil rights.

Here's his famous poem:

They came for the socialists, and I did not speak out--because I was not a socialist.

They came for the trade unionists, and I did not speak out--because I am not a trade unionist.

They came for the Jews, and I did not speak out--because I was not a Jew.

Then they came for me, and there was no one left to speak for me.

Those words are just as true today as they were then. Who will stand for you when the government comes to take away your civil rights?
