Oscar Highlights: God Bless Dustin Black


With an audience of 36 million viewers worldwide, screenwriter Dustin Lance Black - an openly gay film maker - said the following during his acceptance speech for best original screenplay:

"You are beautiful, wonderful creatures of value. And no matter what anyone tells you, God does loves you and very soon you will have equal rights, federally, across this great nation of our's."

Black wrote the screenplay for MILK and also was the Executive Producer on the project.

Also beautifully put, Sean Pean won the Oscar for performance in a leading role and said the following:

"I think it is a good time for those who voted for the ban against gay marriage to sit and reflect and anticipate their great shame and the shame in their grandchildren's eyes if they continue that way of support. We've got to have equal rights for everyone."
