Jim Carrey and Jake Gyllenhaal to star in "Damn Yankees". You Can't Make this stuff up....

Um, you can't make this stuff up, but just brace yourself because it's true.

Jim Carrey and Jake Gyllenhaal are set to star in the remake of the classic musical "Damn Yankees", which - if you're not a big fat homo show tune queen (like me) and need some schoolin' - is the show Fosse did that brought us the song, "Whatever Lola Wants, Lola Gets" and starred Gwen Verdon, both on Broadway and in the filmed version in the 1950's.

Okay, so New Line Cinema is the company doing it and as with all contemporary musicals, Craig Zadan and Neil Meron are producing (They did HAIRSPRAY, but started the revival of musicals by doing tv musicals like ANNIE and GYPSY with Bette Midler, before moving to the big screen with  CHICAGO).

Jim Carrey will be playing the devil, and Jake will be the baseball player.

For a look inside Jake's singing talents, check out this clip of his musical number last year, in drag, singing on SNL a tune from DREAMGIRLS.
